You Are Unique - Let Your Style Shine

Having the latest jeans, book bag, etc. is important to a teenager. As a matter of fact, the wrong type of cell phone can seriously put a damper on your rep, right? Let's be honest; you wanna look like everyone else because teen years are all about fitting in and not standing out. For example, a group of girls at school may be wearing almost identical outfits and have almost identical cell phones.

But, what happens when you want to stand out a little bit? Maybe not the whole punk rocker look with the pink spiked hair and glitter eyelashes...but instead just a few differences that identifies you and your style -- a more refined you.

To allow your uniqueness to shine through and create your own style, here are a few ideas:
  1. Vintage - Everything eventually comes back in style again. Visit a vintage shop and pick up a purse, belt, or other accessories from the 1970s or 1980s. Mix them with your  trendy clothes and voila! You have a whole new look and a style of your own.
  2. Your Hair - Do something fun with your hair and let it compliment the outfit you're wearing. For example: A Band Stand Denim Skirt and Freddy Shred Top may call for a fun high pony tail hair style.
  3. Makeup - Remember less is more. Be sure to first know your styles and shades of colors by getting assistance from one of the makeup artists behind the counter at your favorite department store. Once you have identified the basic eyeshadow, makeup, lipstick, etc. colors that looks best with your skin tone, then you will have more success playing around with various looks. Don't forget that makeup should add glow to your face, not color.
